Lucas Clocks provides a full clock-restoration and repair service for both residential and commercial clients. We operate from our fully equipped workshop in Leith, Edinburgh, from where we are able to offer a wide range of clock repair and restoration services for most clock styles and types.
Clock parts can be remade, or preferably repaired, as it is always our desire to avoid replacing original parts. We always prefer retaining original damaged clock parts as much as possible as opposed to renewing the parts.
Third-party services are also available in combination with the work on the clock mechanism. Lucas Clocks works closely together with established, local, regional or even national craftsmen who are able to offer services such as clock-case restoration, glass cutting, dial restoration and repainting.

CLOCK RESTORATION PROCESS
Lucas Clocks is happy to accept your invitation to assess your clock at your home location or our workshop in Edinburgh. Once the assessment is made a free quotation will be provided which includes the repair or restoration of the clock itself, and any additional work that is to be provided by third parties such as repainting or French polishing. The quotation provided is a reflection of the actual cost to expect at the moment of delivery and setup. If, in the rare occasion, additional costs need to be charged, this will be clearly communicated beforehand with the customer.
Once your clock has been restored and brought back to the condition as agreed, setup and installation at your home location is part of the restoration/repair service. The ideal position of your clock will be discussed to avoid harmful influences such as light (direct daylight causing UV damage is best to be avoided), heat (your clock is best kept as far as possible from radiators or fireplaces) or dampness. Your clock will be setup correctly and put ‘in beat’ on delivery. We ensure wall clocks are secure and safe, with wall-fitted hooks inspected for suitability. Once your clock is installed Lucas Clocks provides a two-year warranty on parts and labour.
Once a clock has received a complete restoration, a periodical service is recommended. Intervals of service are for most mechanical pendulum clocks, say 8-10 years. Smaller clocks like carriage clocks with platform escapements do require a more frequent service pattern of some 5 years.
